Happy birthday to YOU!
To my special other half – have a great day and an amazing trip in a few days!
The month of June was full of shorter days but filled with Birthday things! I collected books, bought a Polaroid and camera phone lenses, made the best red velvet cupcakes, was given minion cupcakes, explored my beautiful city, and woke up to frosty windows.
I used to keep a diary and had about 5 between the ages of 10-19 but now, my daily photos under #365manda are my visual diary and I love looking for the little highlights in my day and capturing them. If you shared any of my June memories with me, thank you for being apart of my favourite month!
I was lucky enough to be a guest over the weekend at a beautiful bridal shower for Sarah of Line Verse Stanza. She and her family put together a beautiful space, filled with balloons and ice cream buffets! It was my first Bridal Shower, but if all are going to be like this, I can’t wait for the next one.
It really is a shame I don’t like strawberries.
I’ve joined something new this past month but something that has been around quite a while – the famous Book Club. Set up by my friend Laura from Uni, it gives us a place to still intellectually engage with a book but without the homework. That makes us sound very smart but we wanted an excuse to catch up, meet new people, eat tasty food and read a good book or two. Our first book was The Great Gatsby since it is on everyone’s tongue these days. I read the book back in high school but it was such a joy to read it again, and again, not have to do homework on it. I loved reading about the green lights, the oranges, the yellow cars and the puppies once more. I’d forgotten how easy a read the book was. I have yet to see the movie but I can’t wait!
My birthday has just drawn to a close and I have been surrounded by so much love! I am grateful to everyone in my life for taking the time to send me a text, write on my facebook or make me EPIC cupcakes like these which Cat made me! They are the minions from Despicable Me. The single-best-baked goods present I have ever received, HANDS DOWN! Other highlights of the day include breakfast in bed, late night chats, beautiful presents from Emma & parents, running into friends and cousins at Chadstone, getting my first Polaroid camera (finally!) and seeing Legally Blonde!!! It was a really great birthday, thank you everyone again.
Some photos are from the phone but I want to record every epic moment of my day 🙂
Melbourne celebrated its first White Night last Saturday night and it was nothing short of spectacular! Flinders Street was light up with magical displays, turning churches into steampunk factories, forums into technicolour fantasies and train stations into electric storms. There were light shows on the river, one man bands and hidden ghosts. The photos below are only but a taster for what was an incredible night and I cannot wait until next years!
For the first time, I celebrated Chinese New Year by visiting the centre of Melbourne for dumplings and ice cream with gorgeous high school friends. We even managed to see firecrackers going off and dragons! Rachel had never seen firecrackers in all her years of CNY because of growing up in Singapore so that was really cool to share that with her. We then wandered around the CBD, taking in the quirkiness of Melbourne (beautiful street art, lights used as art work and twig houses). Love this city!
The Victoria Markets put on magnificent Summer night markets every Wednesday night in December, January and February and I was lucky enough to be asked to be the official photographer for one of those Wednesdays! What follows is my photographic exploration of the market and its beautiful characters.
Amanda is a pure joy to work with. She’s creative, has a fabulous eye for detail and has second to none people skills! Amanda is really easy to collaborate with and has a real skill at bringing a brief to life. I’m overjoyed with all the projects we’ve done and she’s now my go to photography. Her photography passion just shines through into wonderful keepsakes
I am a passionate photographer, a creative graphic designer and a massive fan of sharing everyone’s but especially women’s stories.
