You never know what you are going to discover in Melbourne! Emma and I came across this beautiful wall just near Footscray Community Arts Centre. We couldn’t resist taking a few photos with beautiful wall and because it was raining, the umbrellas came out for a few too. Even a jumping photo was taken below. It was a lovely afternoon exploring an area of the city that I don’t know well as we also visited The Reverence Hotel, 8 Bit (both of which I have blogged about recently) and Savers. Got quite a few cute dresses from there too. I love my city and I love how I still don’t know all of her and you never know what you will find around the corner.
She heard the wolf in scraping chairs and frothing milk, claws drumming on the clock faces, the pattering of Louis Vuittons, passing knitted cardigans, breath between the bricks. She loosened the lid on her grandmother’s coffee because it was still to hot for her to drink but hot enough to throw away if the time ever came.
“As she tears open the wrapping and throws it against the hot porch tiles, she thinks, the icy pole is the only food that cries if it is not eaten. When she licks the stick clean she is thinking, the icy pole would rather be nothing than a part of me. She places the next icy pole on her tongue and lets it decide.”
It’s a European Umbrella Monday.
From this week forward, my umbrella portraits will be presented along with vignettes written by Scott Woodard, a great friend of mine who is a awesome story writer. You can read more of his work here. These will allow the portraits to work in a new way – presenting both an image and story.
Someone huddled under the umbrella, looking at the postcards rather than the city itself, browsing through in order to justify standing under the umbrella, choosing which postcard they don’t want the least, lamenting that it never rains in postcards.
Merry Christmas from me! I hope you have a lovely day surronded by your loved ones and yummy food. I hope where ever you are that the weather is perfect (whether that be snow, sunshine or even just brisk chill) and that Santa brings your exactly what you wanted!
This Umbrella Mondays is from Stockholm, Sweden.
